Music At St. Augustine's
At St. Augustine's, our music curriculum is delivered in a range of ways. Each class receive provision from Tees Valley Music Service each year ranging from singing sessions to recorder lessons. In addition to this, Tees Valley Music Service provide optional violin lessons for children who wish to learn how to play the instrument.
We are very lucky at St. Augustine's to receive additional music provision from Mr. Timothy Harrison (Director of Music in the Diocese of Middlesbrough). For classes year 2-6, Mr. Harrison delivers music sessions that cover a range of skills. The children have the opportunity to sing liturgical hymns and songs but also develop their musical awareness by exploring features of music such as notation and composition.
Alongside the external provision we receive, each individual class explores music further through Cornerstones Topics.
St. Augustine's School Choir
St. Augustine's school choir is a group of approximately 30 children who love to sing. Throughout the year, we sing a range of hymns and songs in preparation for performances and celebrations.
In the last academic year (2016-2017) the choir had a fantastic time at the Snappy Christmas event. Take a look at the photos below.
To celebrate the end of the school year, the school choir enjoyed learning a range of songs, chosen by the children themselves. The choir loved performing these songs to their parents and friends at the summer fair.
