Letter from Mr Macaulay

Dear Parents,

I would like to thank you all for your support and understanding this week following our unavoidable closure on Tuesday due to the loss of power to the school. I would also like to thank the staff for their support in helping to inform parents.

The fault was on the power lines further along Gunnergate Lane and engineers have been working hard to resolve the issue. We have been able to reopen today as a temporary generator supply has been provided whilst further investigations take place on the main power lines.

Thankfully, this is an extremely rare event but it does remind us all about our procedures in the event of a partial or full closure for whatever reason. Parents will always be notified via Parent Mail, Marvellous Me and the school website. I also contacted Middlesbrough Council and BBC Tees for them to issue a notice. We will only ever close school as a last resort and we needed to wait until we had as full a picture as possible from the engineers as to whether and when power could be re-established. As we did not have any guarantee, we were left with no other option than to close. If you have not already signed up for Parent Mail and/or Marvellous Me, perhaps now would be a good time? Both apps are free to install so if you are interested, please see Mrs Whittaker and she can advise what you need to do. For those who have not subscribed to these apps, we will endeavour to contact you by telephone.

Once again, thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. Macaulay,
